The 5 Most Common Plant-Killing Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)
The 5 Most Common Plant-Killing Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)
So... Your Plant Died. Now What?
Hey, no shame in the game. Every plant parent has been there! 🌿✨ Let's walk through the five biggest rookie mistakes — and how you can dodge them like a boss.
1. Overwatering
Yup, more plants die from too much love (aka water) than anything else. Plants like soil that's moist — not soaking wet. A good rule? Stick your finger 2 inches into the soil. If it's dry, it's watering time!
2. Wrong Light
Light is the lifeblood of your leafy friends. Check if your plant needs full sun, partial sun, or shade. FYI, putting a cactus in a dark bathroom is like putting a beach bum in a cave. 😅
3. Bad Pot or Soil
Using the wrong soil or a pot with no drainage = disaster. Always use a pot with a drainage hole, and make sure you’re using the right soil mix (cactus mix for succulents, regular for most others).
4. Ignoring Pests
Little bugs like spider mites or aphids can mess things up fast. Inspect your plants weekly and wipe down their leaves with neem oil if you spot trouble.
5. Not Repotting When Needed
When roots start busting out the bottom of the pot, it’s time for an upgrade! Give your plants room to grow, homie. 🌱🪴
Level Up Your Green Game
Plant parenting is a journey, not a sprint. 🌻 Don’t sweat the small stuff — just keep learning and growing! You got this. 💪
